    Birth certificate
    I legally changed my daughter's surname legally under the instructions of New York State.
    Is this in fact all that is legally necessary to show proof of a name change? Someone I know thinks the birth certificate needs to be changed as well - is this true? Please respond to BOTH questions very clearly. Thank You.
