    Smell from plumbing?
    Hi there,
We just bought a house (it's about 30 years old) and this is our first spring in it. We are smelling a putrid maybe metallic smell coming from the back room of our finished basement. There is a bathroom in the back room but it does not seem to smell. We have searched the walls for mold or wetness but we can't find anything. I have never smelt this odor before and some days it isn't there and others it is extremely strong. I don't even know who to call or where to look. Is this even a plumbing issue or could it be something else? Thanks

The first place I would look is the basement floor drain. Fill the trap with water and see if that doesn't help. Good luck, Tom
