    Benign tumor due to trama
I had a "lump" on me calf a few months back so I asked my pcp about it and he said that it was a benign tumor due to trauma well my concern is now it has more than doubled in size and is painful. Any thoughts??

Time to go back for a second opinion. Unfortunately, we cannot diagnose via the internet, and without a complete history and physical exam, any info we give you would be guesses at best, and may be dangerous to your health.

Since it has grown, and is painful, you should see your doctor again, or a different doctor for a second opinion.

I would also have it checked for a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). Could be life threatening if it is.

I know that it is not a DTV (I too have medical knowledge)it started about the size of a pea and it seemed as though you could move it around a little now (@2 months later)it is @ the size of a quarter and you can't "move" it at all. All I want is some ideas. I go back to my pcp on April the 3rd to have my vitals checked due to being on phenterimine so I am going to ask him then but I like to go into my appointments informed and knowing the possibilities that way there are not any big surprises. Like I said I am just looking for possibilities (not DVT). Thanks for any help.

Well here is an update... I saw my PCP last week and he said that there was a slim chance that it is an infected blood vein so he put me on antibiotics and said that if it was not gone or getting smaller when they were gone to call and he was going to send me to a surgeon to "cut it out and look at it"... a biopsy so... the meds did not work and the pain is just getting worse so I am scheduled to see the surgeon on Tuesday the 8th we don't know if he will be able to do the biopsy in office or not though because it is right on my shin and my PCP is concerned about that. Any thoughts!!

Well to update everyone... I went into the hospital on the 9th and had the "lump" surgically removed for a biopsy. It was a LOT larger than we all thought so they ended up having to put internal and external stitches in (ouch!! ) now we are still waiting and now we must also wait to see if there is any permanent nerve damage (it was starting to attach to the nerve and they ended up scraping the nerve to remove it so cross your fingers!! )
