    Problems with contract and holidays.
Hi, I started a new job January 6th. From day one I have been asking my boss for my contract of employment, first I was told that one would be sorted out for me, now, almost 4 months later, I am being told that "nobody has one so i dont get one either".

Little backstory, my boss and her husband owns a furnature store, and there is a coffee shop/cafe inside, they own the lot, and its basically a family run business, I work in the coffee shop part.

Anyway, since I don't have a contract (I have never actually signed a thing apart from the application form when I applied) I have no idea which statutory holidays I get, I don't know how much notice to give if I wanted to leave, I don't know what the disaplinary side of thing are etc.

The main thing that's brought all of this into my head, was this morning my boyfriend asked me to double check if I will be off on may 5th (a PUBLIC holiday) I asked my boss and she said I have to work some public holidays at her discression. I myself have never worked on may 5th and neither has anyone else I have known.

Also, little things such as her telling me when I applied that the job was Monday to Friday, and now all of a sudden they want me in on a Saturday also, origionally the job was from 9am - 4, now four months later its now changed to 9-4.30..

My main questions are: how do I get my contract side of things sorted out as my boss is obviously unwilling, and should I be working on a public holiday?

    Thanks for any info.

By the way, I have searched the internet for info, and have found quite a bit to help me, but I guess I want to know, does anyone here work public holidays? Everyone I have ever known gets 8 statutory holidays, I get 6...
