    Messy Roommate
    Hello all.

I am the owner of a house that is in the process of selling. I would love to start showing the house to perspective buyers, but have a roommate that has the messiest room I think I have ever seen, and is never home to clean it. What can I legally do to get this room clean for showing?

Well, first you could ask the room mate when he/she is home.
Ask to speak to them and say we're selling the house and we need to have a big tidy up and tell them that they need to play there part. And if they don't you will.
And on top if they don't the house wotn sell!
    Good luck

    Hello D:

There are no legal remedies for nasty roomies.

I've had a couple of years living with various messy flatmates and here is what I have learnt.

You need to play the over emotional stressed card to guilt them into tiding their room. Start by getting increasingly erratic and mumble about how stressed you are about selling the house. Make them your best buddy and shoulder to cry on. Then work into the conversation lines like "how can I compete with show homes ect?" Start frantically tiding everything. Let them find you crying about it.

Basically work up a giant guilt trip until they feel compelled to help out.

The emotionally manipulative technique has worked for me in the past.

Yes I know its not particularly mature but if you can pull it off it works.

This generally works better with girls than guys. Male messy flatmates are better just confronted and directed.

Either that or tell them you will charge for a professional cleaner, if they are not rich/ stupid they will get a move on.

Good luck however you choose to deal with them!
