Monthly bonus change because I handed in my notice
Can some one help me please. I work for a recruitment company and we are paid a bonus for every candidate placed into a job, the bonus is only paid though on the candidates start date. Well I have just handed in my notice and my employer has now told me that my bonus will not be paid to me until the client who has employed our candidate has paid their fee which could be several months time. To me it seems they will not pay it to at all and that they would prob say that the candidate left before the fee was paid. I would have no way of confirming this with them, can they just change the rules like that?
Do you have a suggestion on how I resolve this matter with my employer.

Did you receive a company policy and procedures manual?

If so, what did it say regarding termination and bonus? That will be the key if it exists?

Most "bonuses" are conditional upon continued employment. Think about it, a bonus is intended to reward good performance, and to promote dedication to maintaining that performance in the future. If the future does not include you as an employee, then there really isn't much incentive for the employer to reward you, is there?

Without a company policy and procedure manual, you might need to talk to an attorney or the labor board in your county.

    Good Luck!

What happens currently if the employee leaves, is this money then deducted from your pay. So are these bonus actually advances for pay due normally after a certain point.

As long as they pay them on the dates due, I believe they can. If normally you could be charged back for these funds. If you can be charged back if you work there, then they are not actually earned till the person is there for a certain time.
