Hard drive quits after one hour
My hard drive quit running after aprx one hour every time my comuter is on, I have to shut off the comuter and reboot. How can I copy my old hard drive to the new one? I would like the new hard drive to be my main hard drive.
    Thank You

If the HDD has enough ventilation you can try copy it with the Symantec's Ghost program. I have the best results with IDE drives in doing the following:
1:Disconnect all devices, that are not necessary for this game like CD-Rom players etc.
2:Connect the two HDD on a separate port on your PC mainboard
3:set the bios to boot first on the floppy disk
4:prepare your new HDD with the diskmanager that you downloaded from the vendors site. Preferable with a floppy. Choosy the operating system you want to place on that HDD. Ex. Windows XP NTFS
5:start the PC from a bootable floppy with the Ghost program on it (or on the next floppy)
6:Than follow the screen instructions for copying a partion from the source to the destination.
7: In case you just get a blue welcome screen of Windows XP than boot again with the floppy and type at the prompt: fdisk /mbr

Note: fdisk has to be on your floppy. See to it that you have a bootable disk with windows 98 or 95 with fdisk on it.

The Ghost program I used was a 2005 version. I had succes on IDE drives. It should work on SATA drives too, but...

Hope it will help you and hope that the transfer is ready within the hour your source is still running.
