    My Little Brother
My little brother is 4 years old and he is turning 5 next month. He barely speaks to anyone. The only things he says are the things he sees on the television. He doesn't tell us the things he wants, how he's feeling, or what is hurting him. It's hard to get his attention to teach him something, he'll try to pull away as hard as he can and ignore you. He has no hearing problems and he is very very active.

The weird thing is that he's awsome with electronics. He can go through Comcast On Demand(cable), and find his favorite shows. He knows how to rewind, pause, and restart the program. To know what show you want to watch, you obviously have to know how to read...

He also types the alphabet on the computer and backspaces if he made a mistake.

Those are the only things he seems to know how to do. He doesn't speak, can't open doors, use the toilet, or many other things he should know how to do at this age. I'm really nervous because I love my brother and I want to be able to at least communicate with him or get him to look at me. Or say hi when he sees me, say bye when I leave. I have no idea what can be wrong with him. I'm starting to lose the connection we used to have when he was younger. What can I do to help him? I'm starting to get scared because he should be going to kindergarten next year, but he doesn't know like 75% of the things on the list they gave us.

My mom used to get him a speech teacher but they were no help at all. Can anyone help me?

If his speech isn't fully developed, I wouldn't be as worried as him not being able to use the toilet and other things.

His abilities to type the alphabet, work with electronics, and his abilities to play by himself hints towards autism.

Perhaps your parents can take him to the doctor (pediatrician) and see if he has autism or asperger syndrome (it's a milder form of autism)?

Thanks for your help, I'll look around for info about autism and asperger syndrome to see if he might have it.

Autism, Asperger's or not, he is obviously very bright. Remember Albert Einstein?
