    Statue of limitations on judgements
I was in a car accident 15 years ago and apparently the insurance company sued me and won. I never received anything then I moved out of state. I have had my license where I am at now since 97 but when I went to renew it I was told that I couldn't get it cause it was suspended in Alaska. When I called DMV up there they said that I had to pay like $8000 for the judgement and fines before they would release the suspension. I am not able to pay this because I already have 50% of my checks taken for childsupport. Is there a statue of limitations for this type of judgement??

I really doubt there is a statute of limitations with a suspension. With the DMV you can't get a license until anything and everything is taken care of.
I'd be surprised to hear otherwise.

A judgement itself is normally for 10 years, but can also normally be renewed for another 10.

But here it is not the actual judgement, which may have expired, it is the issue that if the court awards a person a judgement due to an accident, then the license is suspended until that is cleared up. So even if the actual judgement itself clears, ( which mean they can no longer garnish you pay or attach your bank accounts, the license department stlil does not have to give you a license if you still owe them the money.

SOL does not mean you no longer owe the money, it merely means they can not use the court to take your money. This does not stop other civil action in this.

I don't understand why an insurance company sued you - normally you are sued by the other party.

The suspended Licensed question has been addressed in other threads. Not uncommon, will not be lifted until the Judgment is paid. I'm surprised that it wasn't pulled at the time it was suspended.

(Not being able to pay the debt doesn't change anything. Your License cannot be restored until the Judgment is paid. Your only chance might be to get child support reduced but your children still have to eat, so I don't know.)
