    1099-misc ansted of W-2
    Yes, I live in California and I work with a company ansted of give me a W-2 they give in a form 1099-misc how I file this

    Can report 1099 misc as "other income". You will be liable for federal payroll taxes.
    Can file 1099misc as income from self employment. In this instance you can deduct appropriate expenses as a self emplyoed person. Again, you are liable for payroll tax as well as regular federal tax.

    1099-Misc income is reported on schedule C (Form 1040). You can deduct your business related expenses. The net income is subject to 15.3% SE tax.

    How you will treat the 1099-Misc income, read: Your U.S. Tax Return: W2 or 1099: Employee or Independent Contractor.
