    Beyond Tolerance to Inclusion?
A dozen Sandia National Laboratories employees recently objected to an announcement for a workshop titled "White Privilege and Diversity" at their upcoming "Beyond Tolerance to Inclusion" conference.

"Recent studies suggest whites’ lack of awareness about other cultures has to do with whites’ commitment to maintaining higher social status, or “white privilege.” In other words, they may learn through multicultural education, but are likely to persist in racist behaviors unless persuaded to abolishing the privileges they receive as members of the white race. This session includes: a clarification of key antiracism concepts, an explication of how white privilege impedes diversity efforts, and a discussion of how whites can become more genuinely antiracist."
At least the intolerant idiots at the University of Delaware have some company. I think it really annoys these people that we're not so easily fooled.

The conference will be at the University of New Mexico on April 24th[/URL], cost is $119.00. The session on "White Privilege and Diversity" will be led by white guy Ricky Lee Allen, PhD, who "teaches courses on Whiteness Studies and Critical Race Theory." Allen's publications "focus on the ways that white identity politics work to recreate white privilege." Do you think he he'll attend the "Hitting the Bottom Line — The Impact of Assumptions" or the "OUCH! That Stereotype Hurts" workshops?

I'd be privilaged to pay $119 to attend a self hate awareness forum... knock some of that supremacists attitude out of me.I really do want to move on beyond being a white anti-racist racist. I want to publicly confess that I read ' Huck Finn ' more than once. I want to pray at the altar of multi-culturural diversity and the only altars to find are in the universities.

I don't begrudge Rickey Lee Allen a livelihood. If he is a real white guy he is more authentic than faux Indian American Ward Churchill.

UNM is just down the street about 4 hours. Surely I can find enough money to fill up the tank and head over for something as important as confronting my whiteness.

Yes, we obviously all need to learn the art of self-flagellation with motorcycle chains.
