    Filing Taxes for Two States
    Hi!
I am in need of major help on my taxes. I worked in Illinois from January- September in 2007. In September I had to move back to St. Louis, Missour. I then acquired a part time job in October 2007 to this present day. My question for you is, how do I file taxes for both states? Would I be able to file both states on either the Illinois tax form or the Missouri tax form? If not, what should I do , and how can I avoid getting penalized for filing in two states.

You file taxes in both states, as a part-year resident. You don't get penalized for this - in essence you end up paying tax to each state only on the income you earned in that state

For Illinos you file form IL-1040, and attach schedule NR
For MO you file form MO-NRI
