    Severing parental rights
When severing parental rights, what state do you file them in? The child was born in Arizona and now lives in Colorado... also, I am living in florida--so where do I file?

    Thanks for the help

I would assume you believe there is a way to give up your rights ?

Is this correct, is the parent with custody going to adopt the child?
If so they file in the state they are living.

Now if you wish to try ( and I do mean try) to give up your rights, you do it in the state where there custody order exists at. And of course you do realise that giving up your rights ( if the other parent and the court would allow it) does not stop your child support obligation, so you will still have to pay child support unless a new partner adopts the child.
