    Dog vomiting a couple days
I have a 7 year old lab. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that she was having trouble urinating and there was blood in her urine. Turns out she has a UTI and the vet put her on Clavamox for 10 days. She completed all 10 days of the meds, but 2 days later, the UTI returned. We went back to the vet, they did another urinalysis and ultrasound. She still had the UTI but they found no kidney stones or anything in the ultrasound. They again gave her Clavamox but for 2 weeks this time. A few days into the second round of meds, she began vomiting, even though I was giving her the meds with food. I've been feeding her white rice and hamburger the last couple of days now and the vomiting has continued. She is still acting normally and is starving since she basically has been vomitting her food for the last 3-4 days. I got a new prescription from the vet yesterday- her first dose was last night and she again vomited. She is constantly begging for food (as I would be too if I hadn't had a real meal in 3 days). Should I stop the meds for a day and let her just eat? I can't tell whether the meds are upsetting her stomach or if something more serious is going on? I am 99% sure she did not get into anything around the house and I do not feed her any people food normally. I've spent $500 in the past couple of weeks on this whole process and just want her to feel better. Any help?

I f your dog didn't begin vomiting until after the first round of antibiotics, my opinion would be it's not the meds. Making it sick. I would be very honest with the vet, tell him/her all your concerns, even financial. Tell them you don't have the money to keep bringing the animal back and forth. Give the vet your ideas of what is wrong, don't feeel intimidated because they have a degree. YOU know your dog better than anyone. I do know that the vet can give you something to stop the vomiting, have they attempted this yet?

No the vet didn't even offer that option. I actually have tried several small helpings of plain oatmeal and boiled hamburger (suggested on several websites and from friends). Tonight I gave her a small helping of boiled potato and hamburger. I have given her stomach the day off from pills (except for early this morning) to try to get food settled in her belly. So far it has worked and she hasn't vomited since early this morning.
The vet told me yesterday that if the vomiting continued that she would need to come in for blood work, etc... I am going out of town tomorrow. If this continues, I'll just take her to my mother's dogs vet.
Hopefully she and I will both sleep peacefully this evening and I will not have to wake up to a vomiting dog! Thanks!
