    Changing insurance with pre-exisitng condition
My girlfriend just got diagnosed with hep-C. Unfortunately she got laid off at work last week from University of California and her last day is next month. Does she have to take the really expensive Cobra ($600/month) or can she change to a competitive health care policy like Blue Cross ($100/month)? Does this automatically continue coverage for her new condition if she moves to a new policy? Thank you!:(

First she will not get a competitive policy once they find out she has Hep C, and if they even issue the policy the Hep C will not be covered under any new individual plan. She will need to find a new job that furnishes insurance.

Once she is rated up for her health problems, that 100 dollar policy will be hurnderds.
Also for 100 dollars she is not going to get a policy nearly as good as a group policy.
