    Land contract default
If I default on my land contract, can I be sued for the balance? The land contract has never been filed with the county.

Land contracts in general are not filed ( but can be) and it depends on what the contract says, most call for the contract to change to a rental agreement. They can sue for things that are owed

So you will have to go back and read what the contract says they can do.

I am currently 3 years and 2 months into a 10 year land contract. The sellers contacted me last week and said they are getting divorced and want me to get a mortgage in my own name or they are going to put the house up for sale. I have paid $20,000 of $65,000. Is this legal for them to do?
