US less than 183 days dependent tax information
    Hi,
I am in Eden prairie(MN). I came here in March. My family will join me in April(wife and Daughter of 3 yrs). I am employed by a software firm and am here on L1. I will be going back to india by May end. Since my stay is less than 183 days, What should I do to get tax refund next year for my dependents? Actually I am confused with this concept of 183 days. Is any tax applicable to me?
    Please guide.

If you are taking about same year-- came in March and leaving in May, then you will file nonresident tax return. You will not get exemption for you wife or child and you cannot file joint return.

For nonresident tax filing, read: Your U.S. Tax Return: U.S. Tax Filing Requirements for Non-Residents
