Spotting in the middle of my cycle.
I had a baby three months ago and I had started my cycle on March 10th, lasted the normal 5 days. Yesterday I spotted a little and since it is too early for my period to start could it have been implantation bleeding? Or can you spot when you ovulate? We're not having unprotected sex (using condoms and spermicide strips) but obviously everything is not 100%.

It could be from ovulation, some women do have slight spotting, but it may be from recent intercourse or just your cycles getting regulated again. There is a big shift in hormones after having a baby and it can take several months for some women to become regular with their periods again.

Is there a way to tell the difference from ovulation spotting and implantation spotting? It was just a tiny bit and slightly pink? This may be a stupid question but if it were implantation bleeding how long should I wait to test? (And just for the record, I'm not afraid of being pregnant if I am, so don't think I'm asking because I'm scared or anything. I just want to know. I would love for my son to have a sibling, even though it's a little close, but that's okay).

I've never spotted in the middle of my cycles before (if that matters?)

Not really... few women actually do have any spotting with implantation, but obviously it does happen for some. It often is pinkish or brownish (older blood) in color. Some women will have a bit of pinkish blood with ovulation, and sometimes it will be accompanied with cramping on one side or the other. It is all very individual... and what you normally may do can change on you once in awhile.
If it was implantation, you could try a test fairly soon afterwards as implantation often happens roughly 6-12 days after ovulation... it is thought implantation that happens on the earlier end has a better chance of being sustained as well. The closer you are to when your period is actually due gives you a more accurate response.
It doesn't really matter if you have not had spotting midcycle before... having a baby changes your system for a period. You may feel fantastic, but your body is still recovering for awhile yet.
The odds of you being pregnant are not high, given you have just started back with your cycles, but even more so since you have used two types of birth control. Of course, as you said, none are 100% effective. Some women do find themselves pregnant right after birth because ovulation occurs before a period, so some women are surprised they are pregnant when they haven't even had periods return yet.

THank you. I think it was ovulation spotting, I took a test yesterday and it was negative. Thanks again
