    Credit Report
    In regards to my credit report. What are the statue of limitations in Georgia and if an account has been charged-off and nearing 7 years, can my wages be garnished?:confused:

    Hello Ebony:

    A court ordered judgment against you has nothing to do with your credit report except that it appears there.

    The judgment itself will last ten years, in most states, and can be renewed for another ten years. If the judgment is still in effect, yes, your wages can be garnished.

    Can you be sued for a debt that hasn't been paid on for 7 years? No.

    Statute of Limitations has absolutely nothing to do with credit reports. SOL refers to the time limit in which legal action can be taken over an issue. An account being charged off has nothing to do with you. That's simply a tax issue for the creditor.

    The SOL on credit card debt for GA is 4 years from date of default. So if no legal action was started and a judgement not obtained then they can no longer garnish your wages.
