Tanning salon -is this normal--?
Last Saturday and today I went to the tanning salon. Saturday I stayed in for 10 minutes nothing much really happened except for a very small tan ,so I decided to go in today again for 20 minutes and after about 5 hours I became red:confused: is this normal does anyone know when it will go away and would you consider me to go 2 days in a row or like wait how long before I go again.

It is not normal, it is a sign of UV poisoning, you shouldn't tan every day or every other day, or at all in my opinion, unless skin cancer is what you're into, but either way, 20 minutes is a LONG time to stay in.

It is just like getting a tan in the sun basically... you stay in too long you burn.
It will most likely peel. I am surprised they allowed you to stay in for 5 hours
Especially with it only being your second visit.
I don't know if going again would turn it brown or just burn more.
I always turn brown on the red (but I only tan in the sun) but it depends on your skin type.
The beds can cause cancer just as easily as the sun.

Actually, tanning beds are designed for intense saturation of UVA and UVB rays to cause tanning faster, so they are more dangerous than spending the time in the sun, and will cause cancer more easily..

Well yeah, I hate being a nag, but seriously, melanoma and skin cancer are no fun, and very dangerous, and painful, and NOT very sexy at all, so that glowing tan may end in bloody bits of raw face with the skin peeled off from treatments for cancer patches in 10, 20, or30 years.. so I say, deal with the pale and avoid the cancer. I know people personally who got skin cancer and they all regret tanning and sunbathing through their lives, they say it's just not worth it.

The redness you got was very normal. Simply put, you got burnt. You stayed in way too long for your second tan, and I also think you went back too soon after your first session on Saturday...
I have been tanning for about 14 years, and I usually tan throughout the entire year, usually once every 10 days just to maintain. But I do go about 3 times a week before my competitions to get that GOOD dark base. I can do this because I know my body very well. Tanning is also a good source of vitamin D...
You went from a 10 minute session to a 20 minute one WAY too quick. You didn't give your body time to adjust... Tanning should be a gradual process. Your next session after the 10 minute one should have been for about 12 to 13 minutes. Your sessions should progress by 2 to 3 minutes with each session, and each session should be about 4 to 5 days apart... Good luck!
