I like this guy a lot but I don't get to see him much. He's a year older and lives in another town than I do, however out families are friends. His mom says that he likes me but whenever I am around him he doesn't talk to me much and sometimes he can act a bit mean. I don't know if he likes me, and am starting to think that he doesn't. But if he does in fact like me, what would be some signs that maybe I am getting that I can use to figure out if he likes me or not?

Guys will do things to indicate they like you. If he's shy, they will be physical things. But he should DO something if he's interested in you. If he actually does nothing, then all this may be moot.

Ignore everything, I mean EVERYTHING other people tell you. Total waste of energy to spend time considering the validity of third party info.

If this is one of those rare situations where you think he might be interested (though he does NOTHING to indicate so, some reason you still want to believe he does), then stop the mystery and drama and just call him. Tell him you've thought about him occasionally and wondered if he had ever thought about you two getting together.

Whatever he answers, listen to how he says it. Your real answer will be in his tone. He could say "no" but give away that he has thought about you, or he could say "yes" and you could detect him just being polite.

You don't live close enough to accurately judge interactive opportunities together, so you may just need to call him.
