    Car costs
Hi, does anybody know how much is an average about to spend on owning and maintaining a car in the UK? Or at least the items I would need to consider in costing it, especially things that might not be so obvious to a non driver? I don't know where to start really, but I want to work out if I can afford one.

    Cheers TL

EDIT forgot to say in a year

I pay l.l0 at most a litre for gas in Ontario. Running costs are hard to pin down because they will be different for new cars rather then old ones. I guess you would have to figure in having your car serviced every three months and for me, if there are no additional repairs, it is $40. For regular maintenance check such as oil change, etc.

In a year you say, well, god only knows where the gasoline prices will be compared to now.

You will have other feedback, I am sure, this is mine and may not include major repairs. I drive a 99 Subaru Outback Legacy and even though it is getting on, I have had no major repairs so far and I have it maintained on a regular basis.
