I have seen several tankless water heaters on eBay with Rinnai the only one I know about. I saw Rheem and I assume it will be a reliable model as well.
Now to my questions:
1) Has anyone installed a Tankless? Is is too difficult for a amateur handiman?

2) Does anyone know what flow rate you need for 2 showers at the same time?
7.5 gal/min or something like that?

3) Are there any differences in Rinnai and the other brands like Rheem, Bosch?
I don't think I would go with a lesser brand although there are several at much lower prices but also lower flow rates.

You are looking at gas. You will have to pipe it in and also exhaust the heat and fumes outside.; In my area we use electric water heaters. You will have to check local codes.

Figure 10 gallons a minuter if both showers are running.

I'll leave you to compare brands, The R98i Rinnai heater that kicks out 8.5 gpm. At a hefty $1688.00 is the heater that would service your needs. Glad to hear the disposal's working fine. Regards, tom

You need to visit the websites of the different companies and see what different models can handle. I bought and installed a Rheem for $999 plus $259 for a vent kit (propane.) Each company makes several models of different capacities but you can run 2 showers for $999. Installing can be a bit tricky. I installed a propane unit in a basement and had to make a 8" diameter hole in a 10" concrete wall, back breaking but not rocket science. If you can read and follow directions and have some plumbing skills such as sweating copper I think most folks can handle the job. The decision to go tankless as opposed to traditional water heaters is different for every home owner. Saving space and infrequent usuage were my main reasons to go tankless, this is installed in a weekend log cabin.
