    Do new federal crack laws effect probation terms
    I was sentenced and finished a ten year term with five years probation, new laws have went into effect and I want to know will those already free on probation for 5 or 7 years be effected as well.

    Hello K:

    No new laws went into effect. The US Sentencing Commission just lowered the guidelines for crack sentences to equate more with powdered cocaine sentences.

    I doubt very seriously whether it will effect anybody on probation. However, why don't you run it by a criminal attorney?
