    Am I resident or Non-resident
Hi, I came to USA from P.R. China at Nov 20,2006 with J2 visa. I work at a University with my EAD since Sep 2007. Feb 1, 2008 my immigration status changed to H1B visa. I want to ask several questions.

    1. Am I NR or resident alien for tax purposes?

    2. Do I need to fill out the Form 8843, as I held J2 visa through 2007?

    3. I cannot find how much State tax and Local tax were deducted from my salary, where should I find how much should I pay?

I appreciate any help if someone can offer. Thanks in advance.

1-2) For 2007, you are a non-resident alie who must file Form 8843. For 2008, you are a dual-status alien.

    3) Look at the bottom of your W-2.
