General Question: What's with Hampton Bay Ceiling Fans?
I just bought a house, which contains five ceiling fans. Four Wal-Mart specials, and one Hampton Bay. Guess which one isn't working?

I'm sure whatever particular issue afflicting my fan can be found on this board, so that's not the point of my post. I'm just curious to know why a fan manufacturer (one that's prominently displayed in the lighting section of the Home Depots around here) is notorious on this board for manufacturing defective or shoddy fans?

Read the label, MADE IN CHINA. No surprise I suppose.

Some day either we in the USA will either stop buying this crap, or I hope we all like Chinese food, every day.

Tk may be right. Of course probably the Wal-Mart ones are made in China too. I think it may have to do with how this site works with Goggle and other search engines. Go to the automotive forum. I don't think Hondas are good as many do, but surely they are better than you would think they are from this board. Is the Honeywell RTH230B thermostat the piece of junk it seems to be here?

No, I think Google is dumping people with similar problems here. The people that buy a fan and don't have trouble with it, never show up here. What I would like to see is somebody that knows something about them show up here. Then I could leave the fans to them, just like I left that motion sensor switch for tkrussel and most of the Honda problems to Cro Civic.

Excellent point. Google dumped me here when I had my Honeywell RTH230B issue (now working perfectly by the way). So only the smallest critical mass of Hampton Bay fan issues can create "search engine synergy".

I personally would never buy Hampton Bay fans.. . I'm not going to say a word against them, mind you.. . (*cough*theysuck*cough*)

The best fans are Casablancas with the XLP motor and Emersons with the K55 motor.. . But they're very expensive. More information on ceiling fan quality is here:

However I have good news, and it's better than saving money on car insurance. There is one company still making fans in the US, comparable quality to the Casablancas and Emersons I mentioned, and they cost LESS. Around $150 each! I'm ecstatic!
