    Finish a basement to code.
    I want to gut my basement and finish it. Where can I find a list of rules and regulations regarding basement construction so I don't violate any building codes. I live in New York City in a one family house. Thanks for any help.

    What are you going to do down there? Bedrooms would require a window and means of escape. If you turning it into a rec room there is not much to worry about. Will you apply for a permit?

Does a 20 amp breaker require 12/2 wiring? Also, is there a standard number of outlets and lights (2x2 flourescents) that are standard on a 15 amp breaker (code states 2,880 watts maximum, but I don't know how many outlets this equals).
