Air Condition will not turn on
I mused into my house just under a year ago. Everything was fine till about 2 weeks ago. Now all of the sudden my air conditioning will not turn on. I have insurance but of course they are not covering it go figure. Now the tech said something about it being setup incorrctly and low voltage at the air handler. He also stated it was setup in a bypass. I need to know if anyone has any ideas I have been researching and I am leaning towards a bad transformer, but not sure where to get this part. As I am a computer guy I am pretty good at wiring and feel I could do it myself. Any help with this would be great. Just let me know what you need from me or any ideas. Thanks. The label on the air handler reads as follows:

    Air Freedom
    Model No: AHX2400A1
    Volts: 208/240
    HZ: 60
    MTR Amps: 2.2
    MTP HP: 1/4
    Fuse/HACR Break: 15/15

((Now the tech said something about it being setup incorrctly and low voltage at the air handler. ))

Why is the tech not fixing it?

    Is this a heat pump?

Have you followed the wiring diagram on the door of the unit to trace the problem?

    Is this a mobile home?

A little bit of info on your unit.

Long story. Yes it is a heat pump. The tech that came out was from my insurance company to find out the cause of the problem. Because of what he said was the problem(the wiring) the insurance will not cover it. I just find it hard to believe that something put in like 5 years ago would take this long to blow. I am stuck trying to figure this one out on my own and trying to fix it. Let me know any other info that you need.

The wiring would have been a problem right away.

You will have to trace down the problem on your end. There is no way that can be done here since it is a on site type repair. I would have a hard time taking a guess except to say start with the voltage going into the unit and then move on to the control system starting with the transformer.

Are you still using the original thermostat?

I agree. How's it going Hvac1000? It's been awhile since I have been here, still looks the same.

I hear you! I deal with that everyday. Work is finally slowing down a little, so I thought I'd log in and see what's going on. This has been a VERY LONG winter.
