I think a lot of people here think their system is great, because it's free, whereas a lot of Americans go without care because of the costs. When you're a young family with kids and your jobs doesn't provide insurance most young people just can afford to get it on their own. So the kids go without medical attention and that's really sad.

Yeah. The thing is Hillary says that everybody will HAVE to buy into the health plan.
Which leads me to believe it ain't going to be free even to the poor.

The middle income suffers the worse cause they can't get the low income grants and plans that the poorer can get. Many people do not realize there IS stuff available to help them with their medical.

I think I could really only comment on my personal perspective and the road blocks I've encountered in dealing with the Dr.'s and so fourth. The Dr.'s here get frustrated with all of the red tape they have to deal with also. I had, in my opinion, the best Dr. in town who ended up closing up shop. He hated to leave patients that he had for yrs. but he was being nickled and dimed to death with government requirements. He ended up leaving our relatively small city, to open up a very small part time practise in an even smaller city.

I have been on a waiting list for a hip replacement (and I'm not that old! Haha) because of an injury I had many yrs ago. I had one appt with a specialist last fall, and since they don't consider it a "top priority" case, I was pencilled in somewhere towards the bottom of the list. In the meantime, I have to sit and wait! I can't enjoy a lot of the things I used to do! Skydiving is out, lol.

I could go on, but even though it's a "socialized" system... it sure has it's kinks!

That is what I hear a lot of
People have to wait 3 -6 months to get a dr appt. then 3 to 6 more months for the results, then 3 to 6 months later they haven't been able to get their hospital surgery or whatever and die while waiting.
This guy I know of that had a local program called Light Music moved to New Zealand and that is exactly what happened to him.

Oh it definitely isn't free! The premiums get higher and higher all the time! And YES, you are REQUIRED to have it, although they do have subsidy program depending on your income. But just try and talk to any of THOSE people! That's a laugh and a half!

I get stuff in the mail all the time that says for $80. A month you can have their health insurance. I can't even afford $80. A month so I know I wouldn't be able to afford Hillicare
Cause like you said it may start cheap but then...
It is already hard to try and get an actual person to talk to when you call business
I can imagine with it being the government... yeah the (sick) joke is on us!

Yep! We're the puppets aren't we? I think required coverage for a husband and wife (no kids) is around $320 every 3 months. A lot of money, and even when you do have coverage, you still have to wait to get in anywhere. Crazy!

I guess I'm pretty lucky where I live, you really never have to wait over 1 day to see a Doc, we have lots of good hospitals in this state and tons of Doctors. The last resort is always the Emergency Room, now there you might have a wait, especially on weekends. Too many people here use the emergency room as primary care when they don't have insurance cause 80% of the hospitals here can't refuse a patient. We need to get something going in this country, and I don't know how we can do it, but we seem to dig up money to go into space, all the time and do studies that serve no purpose, so I'm thinking we could use this kind of money for our people on Earth instead.

Maybe we could ask Richard Branson or Trump for some of their bucks! I'm sure they have a few billion to spare. Branson is going with his family on a "vacation" to Mars for the day apparently... saw him say it on Oprah. Gee, wonder what the bill will be for that? And then they all sit and brag about their charities!

I know what you mean about the Hosp Emerg rooms. They are filled with people that could have waited out a cold! All of our hospitals cannot refuse anyone, even if their premiums are not up to date. I have had up to a 6 hr wait, and I refuse to go there unless it's something very serious.

Well I think I'm going to go play in the street, stand close to my microwave, use tinfoil when I BBQ, maybe even eat worms, and all the other things I'm not suppose to do, lol. Hopefully I don't end up in ER tonight! :D
