Normally I give them a few minutes. Let me talk to me and take their pamplets as a courtesy. I do not put up with pushy people either, and if they can not leave it alone, I would have done the same thing as you Ak.

Do not feel bad, you did nothing wrong.

Did they have a MORMON alarm system, to set off alarm an shut the power down if they see them coming for the door?

The trouble is there are so many things being forced upon people these days, it can be anything from - we have a new credit card waiting for you and you'll have lots of money to spend, don't worry about interests rates we'll just charge you the earth and you will owe us for several years of course the small print will say- should you not pay us we will take your house-

Then there's the irish guy who just happens to have bran new carpets in the back of his van, not to mention the DVD's that once you purchased them you realize that there are no inners just a brick to make up the weight- this is absolutely true - I kid you not.

We've also had tree surgeons ( irish naturally- no disrespect intended) then there's if you don't have your fortune told ( at a price) bad things will happen in your future.

I could go on and mention the Kleenex, Betterware ( household gadgets etc.) actually to be fair some are very good- yes I have been caught by a few not to mention the gas electric and phone companies.

So when upteen people call usually when you've just come home from a hard day's work or you have lunch on the table, I do answer the door because I admire their courage the abuse they must suffer is probably horrendous at times and yet still they keep going so yes I commend them for that but it still doesn't stop me from saying " i'm sorry i have to close the door now because of the dog " at which point I can't help but grin at the same time feel really awful...

    I don't have a dog
