    Frozen bank account
    Hi,
I have a judgement against me in NY from a law firm about a credit card debit. I had my account frozen in New York not once but twice while in the middle of filing bankuptcy. I have filed to vacate the judgement but what I am worried about is that I moved to North Carolina and I have a bank account. If the judgement is in New York are they authorized to freeze my account in North Carolina. This is a not a N.A bank they serve about three states. I would like to know because I want to put my direct deposit but afraid to do that.

    Please help!!
Can a judgement travel from one state to another state.

They normally have to file to have the judgement reconised in that state, but it is not hard to do, don't do any direct depoist until you have filed your bankruptcy, the bankruptcy will stop the judgements from freezing your accounts.

?? And sorry in the middle of filing, you go to the attorney, they print out paperwork in one day or even while you wait, and it is even filed electronicly in many places now. You can actually file the same day you are in the attorneys office if you already did the credit counseling.

    Thanks for the response!

I was told not to proceed with the bankruptcy because my maiden name is link to my married name. My husband is afriad it would include him so he informed me to try to work with collection companies and debit consultors so in the process I vacate the judgement inform them that I am in the middle of filing bankruptcy. I try to work it with the law firm and we did not go to court but because a lot of family issues I decided to file for bankruptcy again and then my account was frozen again. The judgement is on my credit report so can I still file for bankruptcy?

I will assume you never talked to your attorney about this??

Link to maried name, husband included?? No, the only person included in the bankruptcy is the exact person who files, and whose name and whose social security number is filed.

Time to stop listening to a ex husband who sounds like he is messing with you, and time to talk to an attorney.

And yes now is a good time, to file.
