    Tecumseh Transmission
My transmission problem is that it will shift into all forward gears; not easily, but it shifts. It will not shift into reverse. When I attempt to shift, it moves into the R slot but it meets resistance and will not stay.

Looking at the links is a bit difficult, but it appears that the stainless looking linkage connects to a moveable black steel plate. When I attempt to shift into R the stainless linkage moves forward but resistance comes from that black steel plate not moving.

Is there a place to lube this joint? Or, another suggestion to get this transmission working?

BTW, it worked OK at the end of the last mowing season.

    Thanks - Jeigh

Yes, I would try to lubricate all the linkages. This should be done each time you service the unit.

Thanks! I've sprayed a good oil based lubricant on the linkage and, just about every other place I could find. Still have to watch where I head the mower, always looking for a way out without having to back up.
