    How do I get out of this debt with no money?
    My question is,
    In August of 07 My credit card went to collections. I have not made any contact with the debt collecter since then. I have received many calls after calls from them. And now a collection agency by the name M.J.R. Is now saying there is a claim against me, I am not sure if they are referring to a legal claim. I'm not working and cannot pay back this debt any time soon. I am wondering if they will take this to court to try and retrive what's owing. What can I do? I don't have any assits everything is in my husbands name not mine. I'm worried about my house, can they go after that. Although The house is not in my name, it's in my husbands name. And the dept is only in my name and not my husband's name. How will that effect my house and my husband's credit. Can and will this debt effect my husband?

    Depends on your state. If there is joint property in your state, they might be able to go after the joint assets.

    To find out for sure, you could contact a bankruptcy attorney.
