Truth be told your chances of recovery are very slim. You will need to get a septic company to pump your tank and the chances are only 50/50 that they will have sucked up your ear rings. Now comes the hard part, if you lucked out the ear rings are now in a truck with 1000 gallons of sewage, you have to strainer all 1000 gallons and it againist the law to just dump a tank of sewage in a field somewhere. Most licensed companies will not allow you to mess with their equipment either. Sorry

Recovering Items from Septic Lost Earrings
I would think that valuable items are lost "down the drain" all the time. Since a septic system, i.e. tank, is a closed system you would think that the septic professionals would have a procedure to pump out the sewage through a screen and into an authorized container or from one tank truck to the other so that the item could be recovered. It may be more costly, but surely it could be done. Am I missing something? Anyone out there know of a septic pumping company in the Minneapolis area that would do this? Thanks.

I'm sure that they will, but at what cost. For enough money the septic pumper would probably set up a tank, put in a screen and filter every thing through. But for how much money? Keep in mind that the earrings may still be in a pipe somewhere, waiting for something to come along to push them to the tank.

Ibl - How did they get into the septic tank? Are you sure that they went to the septic tank . IF I were you I would start checking all the traps ( DRAIN) Sinksd, tubs clothes washerand last but least , they may not have made it all the way threw and hung up in one of the traps, if they fell into the toilet and toilet was flushed they may have only made it to the bottbm of the gooseneck in the toilet, I was cleaning out the back of a clothes dryer an d the vent also and inside the vent pipe I found a wedding ring set , real nice ones her 7 her husband were both prof. at the college they were eating supper and I went and excussed myself and asked her if she had lost any rings and she answered back with my wedding rings and at the same time was jumping out of her chair and I held them and said could these be them, she screemed yes where did you find them and I told her , she said now I know I put them in my pants pocket. They went threw the wash and went threw the dryer before comeing out of the pants and going that far and stopping . SO YOU SEE WHAT IO MEAN ABOUT THEY MAY HAVE NEVER MADE IT TO THE SEPTIC TANK :: HOPE THIS HAS HELPED YOU AND YOU DO FIND THEM IF IT HAS RATE MY ANSWER BELOW :::::: GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS ::: F.B.E.

Bob's bang on. That earring's long gone. There's only one thing you "retreive" from a septic tank. And it ain't earrings! Sorry! Tom
