    How to remove a tub spout
    Hi,

    Does anyone know how to get a tub spout off that is turning but it seems striped and won't come off the threads. Have tried some freeze off that didn't work.

    Hey Deb, Tub spouts come in two flavors. Threaded and slip on. You describe a slip on spout,(see image) these do not screw on but are secured by a Allen Set Screw located in the little square hole in the back bottom. Take a Allen Head Wrench and loosen the set screw and it will pull right off. Good luck, Tom

    That was good advice but I don't have a slip on there is no screw at all on the bottom. I can see the threads when the spout is turned up. It looks like its stuck on the last few threads and it just keeps turning. Even with tugging and turning it won't come off. Thanks debby
    Sorry! It sure sounded like a slip on spout. Try this. Since both threads are brass we don't have rusty threads to worry about. Take and put something behind the spout to pry it forward, (careful to protect the tile). Squirt some WD-40 on the threads and pry out while you twist the spout counterclockwise.
    That sucker's got to come out if you force the threads to bite in to each other. Let me know. Tom

    Thanks we will try that. No tile there trying to replace the tile that was cracked and leaking. Need to get green board back there but spout was in the way. Thanks again for your help.
