New Moen T3130 - no hot water
I just installed a Moen T3130 Castleby Moentrol. The hot water worked fine during testing. Now that I have installed the tile, and valves, etc... no hot water. I get cold water, but when turning to the hot side, nothing. The hot water works in the sink just fine.

I have removed the cartridges, replaced, still nothing. Is is an ajustment problem? The shower has had no water through it for over 2 months. Could it be crud? Not sure where to start.

Smooty... when you removed the cartridges did you turn on the hot water and confirm hot water is present at the valve?

I would shut the hot and cold water (hopefully isolated by valves) and then remove cartridges again... then PULSE the hot water (rag over valve face) and confirm it is present in full pressure... HECk... since in shower just set a rag between valve and tile and have a friend open the hot water valve full for 2 seconds (be careful)... Is hot water present?

If hot water is present then one of the two cartridges with this unit is plugged (you said you removed and cleaned with no success.. right?).

Go to http://www.moen.com/shared/pdf/T3130pt.pdf and get the part number you need and moen will send it free of charge (including shipping)... just tell them your issue and they should replace quickly.

Massplubmer2008, the issue was the balancing spool, it was 'stuck'. We noted the middle chamber had all the holes in a blocked position and the cylinder did not have movement. By removing the crimped end cap, we pulled the inside cylinder (using a small Allen wrench as a puller ) cleaned it and placed it back in , snapped the end cap back on. The balancing spool now moves freely and when all was put back we had hot water…..

I've read most of the questions on this website about this matter, but I'm still confused. I pulled off the handle and wall plate. But what do I do after that? I see a small (4 inch approx.) hole in the wall with a "unit" that looks like a cartridge that holds the handle. I can turn it to hot...

No hot water from Moen Single handle shower valve [ 2 Answers ]

I am getting no hot water from my Moen single handle shower valve. I have plenty of pressure from cold water side. I removed the main handle to expose the valve. The hot water pipe has a small valve with a common head valve stem which I turned, hoping to unblock the valve, but this had no...

I have a single handle moen faucet in a shower that I barely use. Cold runs fine, but when you turn handle all the way to hot, very slow trickle comes out and it is not hot. I'm confident that I need to replace the cartridge, but I don't know how to take apart the faucet assembly......
