    Marvelon in treating acne
    Hi

I've been on marvelon for 2, 5 month. It was prescribed to me by my doctor as a treatment for acne and polysyctic ovarium. Would like to know it it helps to treat acne and how fast? When do you first see the results? I started to notice that my face is clearing up a bit and is no longer greasy (can see it in the morning). But I would really appreciate if someone would share more information on using Marvelon for treating acne. The time when you first see the results, the skind condition etc. I used to have bad acne, but now it's mild.

    Tnx

This topic belongs in the Women's Health section, but I will try to answer your question. Marvelon pills are a type of hormonal contraception. It works by preventing ovulation the release of an egg from an ovary and causing changes in the mucus of the cervix which make it difficult for sperm to penetrate and for an egg to implant. Marvelon can also be taken to regulate the menstrual cycle. However, some doctors will prescribe Marvelon or other oral contraceptions to their patients to help treat acne. Oral contraceptives are effective birth control methods, but they can help prevent the release of natural substances that can cause acne. But in some cases oral contraceptions can aggravate acne. It is very important that you take Marvelon exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you have any concerns about taking this contraception, please consult your doctor.
