Ok, I have an serious problem. I filed my taxes in 2005, after receiving unemployment from two states Ca & Ga. I received an w2 for the state of Ga but, didn't get one for Ca. When filed, I didn't think about the w2 for Ca. This of course caused me to be penalized for not reporting it to the IRS. The following balance was ignored (not thinking) :o and I paid it no attention :mad: . The following year 2006, I filed and used my girlfriends daughter due to her not working that much to put money in the household. I had filed my daughter on my taxes in 2003, 2004, & 2006. The IRS hit me for my daughter and made the balance worst.

This year after filing my taxes and looking to get the remaining part of the balance from my taxes, I have found out that I might not even get a return. I was thinking:

Is it too late to refile my taxes from 2005 up to this year? Can I file the missing W2 for 2005?
If I can provide all the necessary paperwork, is it possible to get a return this year since my taxes are already filed for this year?

Curious: I don't quite follow what you are trying to do here - you seem to have had a series of correspondence with the IRS form 2005 (due to the W2 problem from CA) - if that issue has been resolved there is no point in amending your 2005 return, as presumably this issue has been cleared up. Do I have that right? And as for 2006 or 2007, I don't understand what the issues are - has the IRS said that you can't claim your daughter as a dependent? Or is it that you think you should have claimed her but didn't? And what is it about your 2007 taxes already filed that you think you should change?

The problem wasn't corrected in 2005. I didn't send anything in or amended that tax year.

And as for 2006 or 2007, my issues is that they rejected my claim on your daughter. I think it's because of the different last names and we aren't married yet maybe.

I would like to get everything straighten up because, I don't see how I could even owe the IRS money.

I'm unclear here whether you are the father of the girl you tried to claim as a dependent? If you are not the father, you can not claim your GF's child as your dependent - this assumes you filed as single. But if you are the father, then you should be able to claim your own daughter as a dependent - despite your marital status - as long as: (a) your GF did not claim your daughter on her own tax return, (b) your daughter lived with you for at least half the year, (c) she is younger than 19 (or 24 if a full time student) and (d) she did not provide more than half of her own support.

As for the 2005 issue - you stated that you have already been penalized by the IRS - so it seems that this issue has been resolved. Has it not? Please clarify what you meant by: "The following balance was ignored (not thinking) and I payed it no attention." - what does that mean?
