I have tried to download software like pop-up stoppers, security software from the internet and tried to load a digital camera with installation cd on my computer but it always tells me it can not regester the product. How do I fix this problem?

    Hi, Jerry,
Thank you for asking a question here, and welcome to this site. I am sure you will receive some good answers.
This might be a "shot in the dark" at troubleshooting your issue, but have you Registered your XP?
If you are using XP, and have not Registered it, it could possibly stop you from registering any other software. Just a thought.

Are you running any software like a firewall that will stop these registration programs from being able to send information from your PC?

Can you give us the EXACT message and at what point you get it. It could be one of several things like those already mentioned or maybe a corrupted registry or other things.

    Hi, Jerry,
There are some issues with XP SP2, if you have installed the SP2; with the DEP (Data Execution Provention). This looks for registered versions of files before it will execute them.
You can disable this, and then try installing one of the things you couldn't install, see if it works.
    Here is a link:

Scroll down past the Red lettering, Warnings, to start the first step. It might work for you, and you can always go back and re-set the original settings if you like.
    Best of luck.
