I don't know what to go to school for
I am almost a year out of high school and I have yet to decide on what I want to do with my life. I work at a bowling alley and love it, but I know I don't want to do that forever. I was editor of my high school newspaper and thought that is what I wanted to do, but now I am not sure. I have a hard time actually going to school so I was thinking an online degree would work for me, but I can't seem to find anything that I am really interested in that has an online degree. Any suggestions?

Understand online degrees take work and determination... I think they are best suited for people who are motivated and driven.

I'm not saying you aren't... I'm saying if you take on an online degree, be ready to work your tail off.

I used to teach in the sciences at a university. Seen a lot of people go through, not knowing what they should study. Some were chemistry majors because they had a fun class in HS, not because they were talented.

Business degrees aren't sexy, but they are practicable and can be used across many fields.

What do you like about the bowling alley? The people? The work?

Would you ever consider being a business owner?

Again, I'm not going to knock a college education, having taught there, but I also think you can do very well without... one of the first "rich" persons I became friends with was a guy who started a lawn care business out of HS. He is now a multilillionaire who does whatever he pleases for work.

So... talk more about yourself... what do you like? Are you the kind of person who needs to run the show, or are you happy with a routine? There's no wrong answers here. Do you enjpy working with people? Why? Is it because you know the people well or do you like meeting strangers or what?

Business degrees are easily used across many fields. Not the sexiest things, but very applicable.

My dad is getting his degree online, and he likes it better than going to 'real' school. Like anything it has it's pro's and con's. He has a bachelors in science and is going for his masters, and it's really been good for him.

Maybe look in to opening your own bowling alley?
You could still work there, but go to school online or part time at a community college to get your degree in business and then have some fun.

Do what you love, and if what you love is bowling then so be it!
