Exercises that focus on the abs, crunches, sit ups, etc.

Unfortunately the human body isn't capable of targeted weight loss. You lose it wherever your body decides it needs the fat the least. By concentrating on your stomach you will merely tone the muscles faster- not target the weight loss. If you want to lose weight it is actually more effective to work put larger muscle groups such as those in your legs than to overly concentrate on the abs. You could have fantastically toned abdominal muscles but if they are still under a layer of fat you are not going to see them.

Of course working your core muscle has its place- it can help improve posture and make you appear thinner and more confident. Also working the whole body and cross training reduces the chances of over working and injury of an area.

You can retain shape in your bum by building muscle to replace the fat. As for breast- I'm sorry I haven't seen that many women who have lost a lot of weight and retain their bra size. On most people in seems the first to go. I have read that building up the pectoral muscles underneath the breasts (via push ups ect) increases the apparent size of them. However I have yet to see any evidence for this on myself! Perhaps I'm weird...

Good luck and don't be disinheartened increasing your hip to waist ratio will decrease your risk of heart disease and diabetes.
