Samson1 - IF you just got the dryer today, then what I would do is to take the back panel off and give it a good cleaning before using, it is probably full of lint inside ( FIRE HAZARD) we had one that was full of lint and we didn't know and she was drying some clothes and the next thing we knew it was blazing, I got it out before any other damage was done ,but it went stright to the scrape yard. ::: Now here is what you can check, to see if it is the trouble, Check to see if the heating elements get hot (RED) DISCONNECT POWER, back panel still off. Get flash light and shine inside heat box,and see if you can see if any of the wire heat coils is broken , if not you have on outside of heat tube 9 a high temp and a low temp block attached to the outside of heat tube ,if you have a ohm meter check to see if both of these are good or not, there will be no movement of meter needle to the right if they are bad:: REMEMBER HOW THEY ARE HOOKED UP ( WIRES) WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OUT TO TAKE TO A APPLiance rEPAir or a electrical supply 9 they can check them also for you before selling you new ones. IF the heating element is no good get the kind,of dryer, model , serial number off normacatural plate and take to appliance store or electrical supply so you can get new parts ( NOTE - being a kenmore , YOU will more then likely have to go tio a sears store to get the parts. ) on most everything from sears for parts you have to get from them, GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS ::: F.B.E. IF I have helped with your question rate my answer below :) ;) :D

This is hypical of dryers that have heat element inside back cover

    Dryer won't Heat!

The Element Canister contains most items associated heating

    1. Thermal Cutout 2. High Limit Thermostat 3. Heating Element Terminals

On the Left is 4. Thermal Fuse -- These are main items to check with meter

Safety First -- Unplug Dryer before removing back of dryer -- be safe

The Wires also have terminals that get extremely hot and need repaired
