Host pop3 error message
I keep getting the following "The host 'pop3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Subject '', Account: 'pop3', Server: 'pop3', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D"
I would like a simple but in-depth answer as I have read answers to similar questions and could not make any sense out of them at all - it was not saying WHAT steps you should take to solve the problem - I am not au fait with IT at all so please be clear?
Many thanks

What email program do you use? (Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.)
What email domain is your account on? (yahoo.com, earthlink.net, etc.)
I got errors like this in the past when my email service changed the location on the internet of the POP3 mail server. If you don't have the mail server listed properly in your email account setups in you email program, your program can't login to get the mail. Understand?

This is often caused by bloated antivirus suites like Norton. If you have such a application installed try turning off the email scanning to see if it resolves the issue.

You have to understand that we have no idea what level people are at. If they need more detail they should ask a follow-up.
Setting up the Incoming (POP3) aqnd Outgoing (SMTP) server information is part of the process of setting up an e-mail account for your e-mail client the program that you use to read and send mail). While similar the process differs depending on the e-mail client used. Unless this is the initial setup, we have to assume you set it up before so you know how. Also the correct server information has to be supplied by your e-mail service (this is usually your ISP). Each uses their own server.
Since you are unhappy with the answers given here I would suggest you call your e-mail service's tech support and get them to walk you through the process. Or get the information we need to help you and post a follow-up.
