Our household's (very old) cat keeps urinating all over my house mates clothing and his young son's high chair/clothes etc

At first I thought this was because she might be incontinent but as it always seems to be fresh laundry I assume she is re-marking her scent as these items of clothing do not smell of her any more.

I'm assuming it keeps being my house mate because he's the only one of us that doesn't feed her and his sons because he runs around after her ?

Our other housemate (who's cat she is) says the cat has been spayed and had all her injections/anything else she needs.

I'm really getting fed up of the thing peeing all over the place, short of asking my friend to get rid of the cat, what can I do to rectify this ?

Is the catbox kept clean? If yes, have your friend take her cat to the vet. The kitty could have a urinary infection, among other things. If the kitty has an infection, it will choose to go to the bathroom on soft things... such as laundry, funiture, a bed, a rug, etc. Cat urine is a very strong sent to get out of things --- and once a cat starts urinating in a spot, even after any sort of medical condition is taken care of, it may continue. You can purchase a special scented wall plug-in that will discourage the cat to go in the room if it just ends up being a behavor issue.

Try using a different litter. I found with one of my cats that she did not like the consistency of the clumping litter I had been using for awhile. It seemed to work for me. Now onlywhen litter boxes start to get a little stinky do I get that problem. Also do you have a cat and does your housemate have a cat? If so I would ensure each has a litter box of their own... one per cat.

Thank you for your advice, the only thing is she has access to the garden (and presumably wherever she can reach from there) so I can't see it being a problem with the litter as she does not use the tray

I guess that only leaves the infection, the cats already been diagnosed with gastro-entiritis and has been on the medication for this for weeks but this does not seem to have helped with the urinating (just the being sick she used to do)

Does anybody know if there is any chance they may have not picked up something else while they were checking for the gastro-entiritis or would the checks for that cover pretty much everything ?

Problem being apparently more tests would cost around £70 so it is going to be hard to convince my friend to get her checked again without being able to say it could definitely be something else.
