Around where I live, I charge $20.00 an hour to do handyman type of work. I would think that the going rate for a handyman around where you are per hour would be somewhat more than that. I would figure what you would like to make per hour and see if it flies with people. I used to charge $15.00 per hour and then all of a sudden raised it to $20.00. My usual customers didn't seem to so much as blink an eye at the change in price. For more specialty type of work such as painting or refinishing, I don't charge an hourly rate but by the job such as the number of square feet to be painted with a certain number of coats of paint and flat rates for refinishing certain types of furniture. However, there will always be cause for variances in prices for things like painting and refinishing because of other factors that might come into play.

One thing that I would suggest you do, is to do a Google search for Handyman Florida and see if someone is advertising their services on the Internet and maybe also the prices that they are charging.

Hey there home handyman... QUestion... Are you going to carry a liability insurance policy on your work? If not.. why? Do you own your own home? If you do then you better get some liability insurance... that will need to be factored in to price.

Also note that you have a vehicle (that needs tires/inspections/repairs AND will need to be replaced in the future)... how about the cost of tools... tool replacement??

Are you planning to pay taxes on money received..?

I could continue... see, here I know you need to remain competitive... especially if you are just starting out.. but there is a cost to doing business... even a small business.

Start where you need to start... but work your way toward being a legitimate company that deserves to be paid competitively... like a professional.

Would need to know more to continue... are you doing side work? Are you new company? Experience? Let me know and I will at least give my opinion as best I can.

    Hope this helps.
