I am curious as to whether my computer keeps a record of each internet site accessed and the last time it was accessed. I just received a statement from a credit card company which I pay on line each month. My husband paid it this past month and he didn't print out a receipt. The statement I just received claims it was paid late and they are accessing a late fee. I was just wondering if there is somewhere I can look that might show me the time when that site was last accessed. I already viewed the settings in my temporary internet files and I didn't see a record of the specific site I am looking for. Is there somewhere else I can look? Thanks.

Your browser keeps a history of the sites it's visited; this only goes back as far as you've set it in preferences, however. I assume that's what you mean by "temporary internet files"?

The only other alternative is to ask your ISP if they can extract your access information from their server logs. They should have tools that will let them find out when a particular site was accessed by your IP address. I suspect all ISPs keep their logs for quite a while for legal reasons.

How did he pay the bill? If online, then that means out of a bank account of some kind. Just go there and see the date of the payment. It should clear within a day or two of the charge, so that's the best indicator.

If the charge was made and cleared in the same few days the late fee became applicable, even if you WERE late try just calling them and asking them to forgive the late fee. In 25 years or marriage I've gotten JCPenney to forgive at least 5 late fees.

Asking them costs you nothing... the worst that could happen is they leave it there, but they might not. Be nice about it, too, playful with the agent on the phone, blame yourself, point out the close dates... you really "tried"... "help me out if you can, look how well I've always paid"... blah blah. Give it a shot.
