    Pregnant 1 Seizure
I was recently involved in a MVC. The ambulance I hit said I was having a grand mal seizure. I have never had a seizure and EEG didn't show one either. Neurologist suggested I take Tegretol 2x daily. I read it is harmful to the fetus and Im only 13 weeks pregnant. Im debating on whether to take it at all. Should I wait for another seizure and hope it was brought on by low blood sugar or what? Im very concerned. Miscarried 1 baby and this one is healthy and full of life.. I don't want to do anything to harm it. Im already taking percocet and hydrocodone for a shattered foot. Help please!

Talk with your doctor about the concerns for your pregnancy. I am not a doctor or a nurse, but I would be concerned that you might be suffering from gestational diabeties and seizures can result from the low blood sugar.

NO you should not wait for another seizure. See your doctor immediately. Brain damage can result or harm to the unborn child as well. Take steps to get this under control and monitor your blood suger levels as well as making any changes to your diet.

DO NOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS! You have already had a warning. Take Action!

First of all, I would be worrying about the percocet and the hydrocodone for your foot also affecting the baby, is it so painful that tylenol won't help, icing it etc.. Next, how would the EMT who was driving the vehicle that you hit have any idea that you were having a grand mal seizure before you hit him and it wasn't maybe caused from the impact? Has anyone done any blood sugar checks on you or ran a HgA1C? This will show your blood sugar levels for about the last 3 months. I find it strange that they are going to give you Tegretol based on one man's thoughts, no evidence on the EEG and you are pregnant, no epilepsy... if it was me I would get a second opinion before I started taking it. Good Luck!

I would not take it because I have seizures and I keep having miscarriages because I am on seizure medication. I have daily seizures without the medication and I am nable to get pregnant because the medications I am on... dont lose your baby when they have no proof that you even had a seizure
