No Electric in Part of House
We had electric up to a certain point last night and then it went out in over 1/3 of the house. Have checked all the breakers they seem to fine and they have power through all the breakers was checked with meter. Still have no electric in 1/3 of the house. Does anyone know what might have caused this? Does anyone have any suggestions. Thank you

Try your 240 Volt stuff(Dryer?), if they don't work, half of main breaker may be tripped, turn off, then back on.
Since you have meter, see if you have 240 volts going into breaker.
And check voltage across 2 pole breakers.
I think the voltages are backfeeding through loads, is why you are seeing the voltage.
If you have bright or dim lights, might be a Neutral Problem.

If that feeds over 1/3rd of your house, I hope it is a small house, Or you need additional
Circuits. I must have told you a Million times, Don't Exaggerate. Glad you got it working.

How would I use a voltage tester? Would I go from outlet to outlet measuring the voltage? I've gone around the house and tightened outlets and opened the panel and tightened the screws that were not tight.
I haven't seen the lights dim since I tightened everything.

Power in part of house goes dead w/out triping breaker
[ 3 Answers ]
Hello, great site, use it more than I thought I would.
Question: The electricity in part of my house will go dead without tripping the breaker for those rooms and then will come back on within 30-60sec by itself, lights have been dimming as if a dip in voltage has occurred.
Thanks
Gbrown
