    Me again... new york laws
Hi again... I know I've asked a lot of questions already, but please bare with me... I'm so confused with all this court stuff. Ok so my new question is... Wat is the required amount of time an inmate must serve in New York? My boyfriend said 65% but I did some "research" on the internet and its saying 85%. Which one is it? Oh and after he serves this percentage is he automatically released or is it up to a judge or something... Thanks for all your help once again.

    Hello again, lost:

Call the jail. They know. Once it's over, it's over. They don't need a judge to let him out.

Genrally a judge will sentence someone to x to x as a term (ex 1-3 years). This means that after the lower number, they will be eligible for parole. The parole board will review their case periodically to decide whether to order a release.
