    Am I filling 1040NR-EZ right?
I am new to this tax thing I have an F1 visa , I'm not from india or any tax treaty country and school in Texas. I had student employment in 2007 and earned over $9000. I just filled the 1040NR-EZ using help from index
I calculated my taxable income after deducting the 3400 exemption and came up with a tax of about $600 which will leave me with a little refund. I asked people around and everyone is telling me I'm doing something wrong that I should get back about 90% of my withheld federal income. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I won't want to sell myself short.

Your taxable income is $5600 so your federal tax is $560.
What is your country of citizenship? Do you have any work related expenses? Did you pay student education loan interest?

My country has no tax treaty with the US, I paid tuition without a loan and have no work related expenses.

If I have a scholarship (partial) and paid my tuition myself (I even have some 1098-T) but no 1042-S can I get any exemptions for this

    Thanks...

You do NOT have to show any actual purchases.

The sales tax deduction is calculated based on your reported income. The tax software does it for you. If no software, follow the formula in the tax book.
